About Me
Hello! I am Elsie Damas and I am Fuentes’ Second Grade ELA/SS teacher! I was born and raised in Miami, FL but consider Chicago my 2nd home. I have been teaching for over 19 years in both Miami and Chicago. I have taught 12 years in kindergarten, first, and third grades and for 8 years as an RTI/MTSS Specialist and Interventionist for students in kindergarten through 8th grade. I have worked for the Acero network for 5 years and am a proud Fuentes Eagle! I received both my Bachelors degree in Pre-K/Primary Education with ESL endorsement and my Masters in Reading Education from Barry University. I am a proud dog mommy to Oliver, a 5 pound yorkie (He may be small...but he is tough!) My students are often updated about Oliver’s silly adventures during morning meetings. As a teacher, my goal is to make my classroom feel like a home away from home for my students. I want every student to feel supported and to feel the confidence to strive to do their very best knowing they have a cheerleader in their corner.
¡Hola! ¡Soy Elsie Damas y soy la maestra de ELA / SS de segundo grado de Fuentes! Nací y crecí en Miami, FL, pero considero a Chicago como mi segundo hogar. He estado enseñando durante más de 18 años tanto en Miami como en Chicago. He enseñado durante 11 años en kindergarten, primero y tercer grado y durante 8 años como especialista e intervencionista de RTI / MTSS para estudiantes de kindergarten a octavo grado. ¡He trabajado para la red Acero durante 5 años y soy un orgulloso Fuentes Eagle! Recibí mi licenciatura en educación preescolar / primaria con aprobación de ESL y mi maestría en educación lectora de la Universidad de Barry. Soy una orgullosa madre de perro de Oliver, un yorkie de 5 libras (puede que sea pequeño ... ¡pero es duro!) Mis alumnos a menudo se actualizan sobre las tontas aventuras de Oliver durante las reuniones matutinas. Como maestra, mi objetivo es hacer que mi salón de clases se sienta como un hogar lejos del hogar para mis alumnos.
